The project involved designing and creating multiple puppets for the play Stone Lions, produced by Voila Production in collaboration with the China Welfare Institute Children’s Art Theatre.
Working closely with puppet designer Kain Leo, we collaborated to bring these enchanting puppets to life on stage. My role focused on designing the mechanical components of the lion puppets, specifically the movement of their eyes, ears, jaws, and eyebrows. I developed a three-button and one-trigger mechanical handle system that allowed all four parts to be controlled with one hand.
In addition, I provided essential 3D modeling support for other characters in the play, preparing detailed 3D drawings.
All parts were ultimately 3D printed and assembled, transforming the designs into the final, fully functional puppets.
